Chief Investment Officer

Lane joined SCS Financial Services in 2024 with three decades of experience in the investment management industry leading and managing multi-billion dollar portfolios across all asset classes. He has a proven ability to manage diverse investment organizations encompassing a full variety of investment strategies. As Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chair of the Investment Committee, Lane sets the firm’s overall investment direction, strategic portfolio asset allocation, and oversees manager sourcing, diligence, and research across Fixed Income, Public Equities, Hedge Funds, and Private Investments. Prior to joining SCS, Lane was most recently at FMR Diversified Investments, where he managed the investment portfolio for the owners of Fidelity. In that role, he served as President and CIO, leading the investment team’s efforts across all asset classes including private equity, public equity, natural resources, and real estate. Prior to FMR, Lane held various leadership roles for Harvard Management Company, including serving as head of the private equity team and previously as head of the public market team that each oversaw more than $7 billion of investments globally. Lane previously spent 13 years in private equity at Alta Communications, J.W. Childs Associates, and BancBoston Capital. During this time, he focused on originating and managing growth equity and buyout investments across a variety of industries. Lane’s philanthropic activities include roles with several non-profits including: the Harvard Varsity Club, the Noble and Greenough School, and the USA Hockey Foundation. Lane graduated with honors from Harvard College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and received his MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Formerly, Lane was a professional hockey player who competed in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary and was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.
